Adding a Vimeo Video to your WordPress Blog

To quickly embed a Vimeo video:

Copy the video’s URL from your web browser’s address bar while viewing the video:

And paste it on a line by itself in your post/page editor:

Default width and height:400×300

To embed with a Shortcode:

You can use this option and create shortcode if you would like to specify a particular width and height for the video.

This is done by copying the URL or video ID from your web browser’s address bar while viewing the video.

Then open a new post or page and create the shortcode using one of the following formats:

[vimeo http://vimeo.com/240975]
or
[vimeo 240975]

Make sure that you replace the URL/video ID example here with the URL or video ID of your video.

To change the width and height, for example to 500×400, change the shortcode to look similar to the following:

[vimeo http://vimeo.com/240975 w=500&h=400]

Please note the following:

• If you are unable to see your embedded Vimeo video on your page or post then make sure that the Vimeo link is not hyperlinked. The URL will be in blue (see image below) if it is hyperlinked. To unlink it, simply highlight the whole URL and click the “Unlink” icon on your Visual Editor toolbar. The URL text will  then appear black once it is unlinked.
